Health Coverage Programs

My Health LA is a no-cost health care program for people who live in Los Angeles County. It is for people who are age 6 and older base on family size and income in accordance with federal poverty guidelines. My Health LA is free to individuals and families who do not have and cannot get health insurance.

Medi-Cal is a free or low-cost health coverage for children and adults with limited income and resources. Medi-Cal covers low-income adults, families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, children in foster care as well as former foster youth up to age 26, and pregnant women.

Medicare is a federal program attached to Social Security. It is available to all U.S. citizens 65 years of age or older, regardless of income. Medicare also covers people with certain disabilities.

Covered California is the name of California’s health insurance marketplace (also known as an Exchange under the Affordable Care Act) which allows consumers to shop, compare, and purchase health insurance all in one place. This is the only place where California residents can be screened and approved for premium tax credits and cost-sharing subsidies. A person must be either a US Citizen, or lawfully present in the U.S.

  • Number of people being enrolled (whole or partial family), including the birth date of each person
  • Social security number(s) for each family member
  • Home ZIP code
  • Most recent income tax filings, including dependent tax information and head of household status (if any)
  • Legal immigration information, such as your immigration number
  • Information about your status as a member of federally recognized tribe
